It’s a question every League player asks eventually: Should I just mute everyone?

While it might feel extreme, the honest answer is most of the time, yes, it’s probably worth it.

Typing Rarely Helps, But Often Hurts

Let’s face it—most in-game chat isn’t used for strategy or team morale. It’s more often used for flaming, blaming, or arguing. While communication is key in League, that doesn’t mean you have to type.

Riot’s ping system has come a long way. You can ping cooldowns, enemy items, timers, summoner spells, and more. It’s often faster and more precise than typing mid-fight or during rotations.

Avoiding Emotional Traps

The biggest benefit of muting is mental protection. Muting “All” removes one of the most common sources of tilt: toxicity.

  • No distracting arguments
  • No need to defend yourself
  • No spiral of negativity impacting your performance

So What’s the Best Setup?

  • ✅ Mute chat, but…
  • ❌ Don’t mute pings (unless someone’s spamming—then mute their pings only)
  • ❌ Avoid all chat—you gain nothing hearing the enemy team flame

You can’t change your teammates mid-game, so focus on what you can control. Use the tools that help you win. Let everything else fade out.

Final Thought

League is about focus, mechanics, and smart decisions. Emotional distractions like chat drama only drag you down. If muting helps you perform better, do it. Protect your mental, play your game, and climb the ranked ladder.
