When it comes to optimizing your settings for League of Legends, one question always comes up:

What DPI should you use?

In FPS games like CS:GO or Valorant, low DPI is preferred for extreme precision. But League of Legends is a completely different beast.

Why Higher DPI Makes Sense for LoL

In League, you’re not aiming headshots—you’re:

  • Clicking on champions and minions
  • Navigating the minimap
  • Dodging skillshots
  • Kiting and commanding rapidly

Precision still matters, but speed and responsiveness often matter more.

Most top LoL players use medium to high DPI, usually between 1500 and 3000, combined with the default in-game sensitivity of 50.

Higher DPI makes it easier to react quickly, pan the camera smoothly, and issue fast commands—without needing pixel-perfect aim.

The Tradeoff: Speed vs. Control

High DPI isn’t flawless:

  • Faster cursor = higher risk of misclicks
  • Lower DPI = more control but slower reaction

That said, most players adjust over time and prefer the benefits of speed once muscle memory kicks in.

400 DPI is often too slow for League—you’ll struggle to pan, click, or respond in time.

✅ Sweet Spot: 1500–3000 DPI

But Isn’t It Just Preference?

Yes—to a point. DPI is personal, but even then, the pro scene shows clear trends. Some players still go as low as 800 DPI, while others push 3200+.

Pro DPI Examples (LEC, LCS, LCK, LPL)

  • Caps (G2): 3200 DPI / 50 in-game
  • Bjergsen (TSM): 1600 DPI / 50 in-game
  • ShowMaker (DWG): 2500 DPI / 100 in-game
  • Larssen (Rogue): 3200 DPI / 50 in-game
  • Faker (T1): 1800 DPI / 80 in-game (with mouse accel)
  • Rekkles (FNC): 1600 DPI / 50 in-game
  • Doublelift (TSM): 1800 DPI / 30 in-game
  • Pobelter (CLG): 3500 DPI / 50 in-game
  • Razork (MSF): 3800 DPI / 50 in-game

Very few players go below 1000 DPI—speed and consistency matter more in LoL.

So, What DPI Should You Use?

PlaystyleRecommended DPI
Fast & reactive, confident hands2000–3200 DPI
Balanced, comfortable movement1500–2000 DPI
Precise, slow-and-steady800–1200 DPI

If unsure, start with 1600 DPI and 50 in-game sensitivity. Stick with it for a while to build muscle memory before tweaking again.

Final Thought

There’s no single “best” DPI for League—but the data is clear:

  • Most pros use 1500–3000 DPI
  • Lower DPI isn’t the norm
  • League demands speed, camera panning, and fast clicks—not pixel-perfect shots

Find a DPI that feels fast, lets you react confidently, and helps you stay consistent. Then stick to it.
